Saltash Chamber is out of date/staid
Is it time for the Chamber to reinvent itself and address the issues which were the basis of the above statement or should it decide to fold as it no longer represents the views of the business community because that community no longer communicates with the chamber.Does the business community need a chamber to fight on its behalf?

WELL,The lack of any comment to this topic would infer that there is no enthusiasm for the Chamber from the business community. Is it therefore the time for the Chamber to accept that it no longer speaks for the businesses of Saltash and,as its reason for existence no longer prevails,it should fold?Posted on Fri 10/01/14 03:32 PM

I think it is valid but maybe a facebook and twitter presence might help.Posted on Sat 15/03/14 05:58 PM

Facebook and Twitter are a free way of getting your info out there and communicating with potential customers and visitors to our town. Posted on Tue 13/05/14 02:56 PM

Modern technology is one answer but face to face contact is also beneficial.Should the chamber change the regularity of its meetings or the time thereof.Posted on Wed 17/09/14 04:48 PM

Maybe hold the meetings in the Guildhall or somewhere in town as China Fleet is hard to get to if you don't drive like me.Posted on Sat 20/09/14 10:05 AM

I think the Chamber isn't used enough, it's a wasted resource of advice and support for local businesses. Posted on Tue 23/09/14 06:39 PM

Town for meetings would be great so the people who dont drive can attend. Posted on Wed 24/09/14 04:00 PM

As a small business start-up in Saltash I would like to join the Chamber, however I feel the cost to a very small business is very high when there are so many costs involved with starting out. Could the fee for new start-ups/kitchen industries like myself be looked into? I am building the business around my small children and find the time and location of meetings does not make it easy for me to attend. Could they not be more central in the town with better public transport links? Somewhere more informal so less intimidating to new members? Also, I find the lack of social media presence surprising as my entire business is Facebook based like many more in the town who cannot afford to move into units at the present time, it seems bizarre to me that this has only just happened!! It makes the Chamber appear 'behind the times' and also 'stand-offish', without a personable 'face' for business people to relate to. If the Chamber had been using FB for example, they would know there are plenty of businesses who are extremely passionate about the town (something often complained about by the Chairman in the local press) and they have missed all this time to be building a relationship with them. Lets hope that the whole Chamber supports the new FB page and uses it to it's full capacity to engage with the business community!! The other point I would like to make is, why do we have so many pockets of organisations in the town all working separately? Committees like STIG, ForSaltash, Saltash Town Council etc, should we not be pulling and pooling all those initiatives under one umbrella? It makes for a very confusing package to a new business as to which to become involved with. Surely the town would benefit more if all these were brought together under one roof? As they all seem to have the same goal to improve the town, why does it seem they are all rubbing along next to each other and not sharing knowledge and expertise? Posted on Mon 06/10/14 10:25 AM

Knowledge is shared because people participate in various organisations. Each organisation has a different remit but because of cross participation there is interaction and several of the goals involve joint action Posted on Wed 08/10/14 08:37 PM
