Chamber membership
With all the proposals being discussed for the town centre how can the thoughts of retailers be heard when they do not appear to be either signing up to chamber membership or making comment on the Blog.Existing members of the chamber can not represent all opinions unless those opinions are known. It is no good complaining afterwards.

Umm, I don't understand the last response. Anyway... This isn't a blog, it's a forum. It says 'Forum' up the top of the page there. If the Chamber would like people to comment on here, a good start would be to ensure that the URL to this forum is on every email and formal letter that the chamber sends to its members. I for one have wanted to comment, but had no idea where to go. I had to Google search to eventually find it - after I noticed the cry out in the last Chamber's minutes. So here I am, writing away Next, most retailers have a web site and could put links to this site on their websites. Remember, merchants make money from customers. What do our customers want? Because, as a merchant, I would want to be serving as many of their needs as possible. This forum is a great way of finding out just what they would like and what they expect from their town centre. It's no good members sitting in meeting rooms and trying to second guess what Saltash customers want. It would also be better to get a more apt forum software application. Most forum applications will expect its users to sign in and will then email them when there has been an update on a thread that they have contributed to. So if someone contributes to this thread, I and every other subscriber will be informed and we can add further comments as necessary. There is a real danger that I will leave my comments here and walk away and forget all about this forum - just throw away comments. The best forum applications are actually free. Re the last comment. We tried a forum with signing in, etc., and you know what - no-one (or very few) signed in! So we opened it up to everyone - members or not. Posted on Fri 24/02/12 06:29 PM

Blog,Twitter,Facebook, let the chamber try them all if it can engender action from traders to improve the retail environment.Whatever is used let the retailers put forward thoughts rather than moan about action that is being taken on their behalf by others who are prepared to put time to ensuring saltash improvesPosted on Wed 21/03/12 10:32 PM

My wife and I have lived and shopped in Saltash regularly for the last 50 years, and had mostly enjoyed doing so. Except for today Sunday 20th.October, 2013; we had just returned from an open day at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth, and returned to Saltash for Sunday Midday meal. We chose the Brunel Public House, but shall never go in there again. We were made most unwelcome, and were treated somewhat rudely when we decided not to dine there, had a short drink and left. We met someone outside whom recommended the Railway Hotel where we had a hot roast dinner served with style and everyone made our meal enjoyable. The service was second to none, and we have eaten in restaurants and on twenty cruise ships where the service etc.we experienced at the Railway Hotel was equal. Someone, explained that the Brunel Public House had been purchased by the Holiday Inn Group, but, if that is their best service to an elderly couple, the staff were deplorable.
