|Tesco's in Saltash|
First exactly where do Tesco propose to Site the supermarket, because my 2 concerns are 1) access off the main road it's bad enough now 2) is this the slide downwards from industrial to retail.

|News to me that Tesco are thinking of building in Saltash ,
Never thought I would welcome them to the town but a supermarket that provides a service to those who cant afford Waitrose price or want more than the overgrown corner shop that is Lidl is maybe no bad thing. One would hope that they will also have a petrol station as well to bring the greedy retailers in the town to heal .
The slide away from industry to retail was a given when the previous Caradon business prevention team put greed before jobs .
No doubt the effect will be felt in Fore street but I feel a supermarket from Tesco or Morrison may bring more good than bad

|Sorry to see that the application from Tesco will not include a Petrol station oh well Saltash thats more of my and companies money spent elesewhere at least Tesco in Callington will have a fuel station
and with it no doubt see a lot of Saltash money coming it's way.
I dispair for saltash and it's future shops closed very little to attract people to the town to shop seems other towns in the area are
getting better .I recall 10 years ago in an adress at the 50th year chamber of commerce dinner I warned that things were going to get worse unless those who we put into power woke up and paid a little more attention
to the situation as it was then 10 yers on nothing has improved and Saltash seems to have fallen further behind . I hear nothing from our elected representives I see money wasted and a general attitude of we are allright jack pull up the ladder . At least the people deserve from our elected betters is signs of doing something. using empty shops for display from various organizations just adds to the down at heal image. we need efforts to reduce the burnden of high rents business rates from a bankrupt county council who have no idea of life in the real world of the small business in the town We need our so called elected betters and the chamber of commerce to be more vocal in the media to talk up Saltash and in the case of our county councilors get out of the Ivory tower of county hall and talk to the business people and use the power given to you by the people to help the people

|Isnt it about time the Tesco planning application was determined and the store built so that trade isnt lost to Plymouth and Callington.||Posted on Thu 22/03/12 02:13 PM|
|cornwall council gave the go ahead on the 3rd may 2012, a couple of weeks before these posts!!! so im not sure of all the confusion! im new to the area, and from an outsiders view point it appears the locals are against progress. competition is good. drives prices down.wetherspoons should also come to saltash, but i guess that would be too scary also. ||Posted on Wed 06/06/12 09:26 PM|
|Tescos is going to be built so the local traders should benefit as residents of saltash do not have to travel to Plymouth and therefore should be encouraged to do their non Tesco shop in Fore St.The S.106 payment that Tescos are paying should be used wisely to make Fore St. an attractive proposition.
Let the Traders now speek and tell the Chamber,Town Council and the Improvement Group what they think is needed.||Posted on Fri 13/07/12 02:46 PM|
|Are Tesco now pulling out of the proposed Saltash store?||Posted on Sat 04/08/12 10:30 AM|
|Excellent news, Co-Op is not exactly the cheapest and certainly hasn't got everything.
On the other hand Lidl is out of town a little bit for those that don't drive...and then Waitrose could be a little bit overpriced and out of town (in spite of the free bus).
A Tesco Express or Metro would be fabulous||Posted on Sat 13/09/14 10:08 AM|
